Color Love

Brides, I can imagine what most of your desk space (or floor space if you're like me and needs lots of design room) looks like right now...it's covered in stacks of bridal magazines that reach to your knees.  There are tons of shoe boxes full of magazine clippings and paint chips from the Home Depot paint section.  Your StumbleUpon or Delicious bookmarks are overflowing.  Your Google Reader is counting 500+ unread blog posts, most of which are wedding blogs.  You have no lack of design inspiration BUT you are still feeling a bit uninspired by all that you see.

If you feel this way then check out Colour Lovers!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this site.  Colour Lovers is a great tool for brides to find and create wedding inspiration.  They recently just launched a wedding blog where brides can find current wedding palette trends, inspiration for bridesmaid dresses, flowers, reception decor, and much more.  Best of all, the people that are using Colour Lovers are so incredibly kind.  Your palettes, patterns and colors publish automatically in a public time line so other "lovers" are able to follow and comment on your creations.  I remember when I first joined; within half an hour of creating my first few patterns and palletts I had several "love notes" in my inbox.  "Love notes" are comments from other users about how much they liked your design.

Colour Lovers is an easy tool for any skill level.  They offer several options for creating palettes; start from scratch or upload photos from the internet.  Colour Lovers will automatically list the colors used in your uploaded photos, offering categories based on bight, muted, dark, light, and analogous.  If you are feeling super creative you can have the image pixilated so you can specify shades or tones of paticular colors yourself.  Also, there are tons of pre-created patterns that you can "color" or you even have the option to create your own patterns to color and share.

If you run across inspiration while on Colour Lovers you are able to favorite, follow or save your inspiration and come back to it later.  The blogs also offer RSS feed for posts and comments.

Here are several other reasons Colour Lovers totally rocks!!

- HEX, RGB, and HSV formats
- Color recommendations based on your current palette
- Trend reports
- New color tool developments (quite often)
- Tags for colors, palettes and patterns
- Link and image loading to track your inspiration
- Codes to embed palettes, colors, and patterns on your website or blog
- Download options

And here are just a few things that we have created.

Etsy Love

Brides no longer have to settle for their mom's wedding!!!  With rising trends of DIY wedding projects and brides mixing tradition with non-tradition, weddings are quickly becoming a way for the bride and groom to showcase their true personalities.  Gone are the days of the cookie cutter guest books and Jordan almond guest favors.  Today's bride wants the small touches to reflect her and her groom's personality along with being worth the investment.  Often, brides are able to help custom design handmade pieces for their wedding ceremony or reception; adding that personal touch to the design element as well as creating a keepsake that will mean more to the couple than the quintessential items from previous wedding traditions.

One great place to find handmade/customizable wedding accessories is Etsy.  But beware, if you do an Etsy search for "wedding accessories" you will find page upon page of ideas!  It can be a bit overwhelming but it is great for wedding inspiration or just plain eye candy.  E.G. Couture has decided to help out the busy bride by researching several Etsy vendors and adding them to our store location.  Now brides have the availability to drop in, see the actual item and work with a consultant to custom design their accessory.

One of our favorite Etsy vendors is Emici Bridal.  Emici Bridal creates "original heirloom quality bridal accessories for today's bride."  Marie, the owner and designer of Emici Bridal, custom creates ring pillows, flower girl baskets, sashes and more.  Every piece is such an amazing display of craftsmanship and attention to detail!  Emici Bridal has been featured in Modern Bride magazine, Style Me Pretty and marthastewartweddings.com just to name a few.  Marie is happy to customize the fabric and color of your accessory to match your wedding theme and colors.  Here are just a few stunning pieces that she has to offer.

Buttercream & Ivory Ring Pillow

Ivory Silk Rose Pillow

Ivory Silk Rose Sash

Sand & Pearl Bow Basket

For more products from Emici Bridal please visit our website.  If you are interested in more information regarding a custom order please feel free to email us.

And keep checking back with us because we have other great Etsy finds on the way!

Happy Planning!
