How to Survive Your Big Day

One of the most important things to remember on your wedding day is to JUST BREATHE!!!  Have fun and don't sweat the small things.  The day will go by in a blurred frenzy but the really important details will be remembered forever.

Brides have a HUGE checklist that starts the day you get engaged and doesn't stop until right before you walk down the aisle.  That checklist is being revised over and over and it seems to get more detailed the closer you get to your wedding day.  The details show up in some of the smallest items and it never fails, on the big day, there still seems to be something that was forgotten.

I clearly remember one of those instances when something so very small but so very necessary was forgotten.  I met a client the day of her wedding to help her get ready to walk down the aisle.  While she was engrossed with all the small details of getting her glam on one of her bridesmaids approached me with what I thought was going to be an easy fix.  The zipper on her bridesmaid gown was stuck!  Typically an easy fix...two sets of hands and a healthy dose of patience usually works.  Not this time.  Bridesmaid and I took cover in the bathroom so the bride could keep calm and carry on while we devised a plan B.  Mind you, this was a side zip and no easy way to cover exposed body parts!  We tried chapstick to see if that would help the zipper budge.  Still a no go.  So that left only one option for plan C; sew her into the dress!  But no one had needle and thread!!!  Agh, a small sewing kit is a must on your wedding day!  Thankfully the hotel's front desk had a small sewing kit on hand and thank goodness because while sewing bridesmaid into her gown another maid popped a strap and had to have that sewn as well!

Bride finally heard about the almost fiasco and can look back with her maids and laugh about it now but I will tell you, it was no laughing matter at the time!  Sewing kits are just one of the essential items that you could possibly need on your wedding day.  Luckliy, E.G.
